Indicative of the problem
- Times of London reports on January 26, 2009
Beijing holds secret talks with banned churches as 100 million defy party rules
- Unfortunately China Aid Association, one of the most reputable HR organization on China say their sources deny the secret talks ever happened as described in the Times article and that no progress has been made.
- Again, the Chinese government shows its skill with smoke and mirrors
- The problem with a secretive government
You can never be absolutely sure. An honest inquirer can never be certain about the government’s claims or disclaims—simply not verifiable.
The desire for doubt is the aim. This shroud of doubt is exactly what the Chinese government strives for if you can’t believe their claims. A doubt is better than a contrarian belief.

I agree, a secret state like China has the luxuary of keeping outsdiders as well as insiders in the dark. They are in a losing battle as both history and Scripture demonstrate.
